Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) has officially launched a significant update to its Schedule of Fees for Industrial Property Services, effective from August 2025, with progressive implementation through December 2025. This reform aligns with INPI’s broader mission to promote innovation, reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, and ensure equitable access to IP protection.
The new fee structure introduces:
Eight new services (e.g., priority trademark processing, acquired distinctiveness procedures, and certificate reissuance for contracts).
Zero-fee services including patent certificates, withdrawal of appeals, and trademark renewals.
Simplified procedures such as automated issuance of certificates and streamlined opposition filings.
Phased implementation, with critical features active by September and December 2025.
