Geographical Indication (GI) is an industrially owned asset used to identify the origin of a particular product or service, when the location has become known, or when a certain feature or quality of that product or service is due to its geographical origin.
GI protection, while preserving local traditions, has the potential to differentiate products and services, improve market access and promote regional development, with effects on producers, service providers and consumers. Learn more about GIs in Brazil.
